What is Alkira Respite Service Inc.?

Alkira Respite Service is a non-profit organisation established in 1996, providing support and day respite at a Centre Based Multipurpose facility to the Carer’s of people with memory impairment related disabilities who live within the Westlakes Area.

Alkira offers a secure, friendly and homely environment with discreet assistance and supervision by qualified and caring Staff.

We have a dynamic team of professional Staff and Volunteers to assist with Activities, Personal Care and Mobility needs.

Alkira provides an enjoyable & entertaining social day out, giving Carer’s a much needed break

Alkira’s program engages many activities and therapies to enhance the lives of people in different stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

What Service is Provided?

Alkira Respite Service offers Carer’s a break from their caring role.

Alkira has links to support, information and advocacy services.

On arrival at the Centre our Clients receive morning tea and a two- course hot lunch served at approximately 12.15pm. Refreshments are also provided during the day, with special dietary needs catered for.

Recreation and leisure activities during the day may include: Art, Concerts & Sing-a-longs, Social interaction, Theme days, Exercises and Day trips.

Alkira is open five days a week, Monday – Friday. We are closed Public Holidays and the Christmas, New Year period.

Transport is provided by Alkira’s own 12 seater vehicle and Mercy Community Transport Service with a Nurse escort on each to assist Clients. Daily Pickups start at 8am and the Clients are returned home between 2pm and 3.30pm.

We recognise that each person is unique and that all care given should be special to the individual.
